Voici les produits que j'avais commandés :
Here is what I had ordered :

- Now Foods : berry full shampoo, shampooing volumateur qui sent bon le bonbon. Le flacon est très grand (473 ml) pour un prix modique.
/ a volumizing shampoo that smells like sweets. The bottle is big (16 fl oz) and the price was low.

- Now Foods : Hyalyronic Acid facial serum, sérum raffermissant à l'acide hyaluronique. J'ai des rides autour des yeux et j'aimerais voir si ce produit (associé à ma crème habituelle) peut m'aider à améliorer les choses . / a firming serum with hyaluronic acid. I have fine lines (and not so fine lines!) around the eyes and I'd like to see if this product (in conjunction with my usual eye cream) can help improve things.

- Acure Organics : cell stimulating facial mask, masque stimulant. Je voulais essayer cette marque bio dont j'ai beaucoup entendu parler. Le packaging extérieur est plutôt réussi, par contre à l'intérieur le produit est conditionné dans un tube kaki très moche. En même tant, ce qui compte c'est le masque en lui-même! / a stimulating mask. I wanted to try this organic brand as I have heard a lot of good things about it. The cardboard packaging is rather nice but the product comes in a rather ugly khaki tube. Then again, I'm more interested by the mask itself than by the packaging but I just thought I would share this with you.

- Alba Botanica : Hawaïan Body Polish, gommage au sucre du canne dont l'odeur de crème brûlée est à tomber!!!  Petit bémol cependant : je ne pense pas que ce soit un parfum naturel. Contrairement à de nombreux produits alba botanica, celui-ci ne contient pas de phenoxyethanol, produit que je préfère éviter. / a cane sugar body scrub that smells just like creme brûlée! Not sure whether this is a natural perfume though (actually, I think it isn't). Contrary to many alba botanica products, this one does not contain phenoxyethanol, an ingredient I'd rather avoid.

- Mychelle : Enzyme Fruit Cleanser,un nettoyant pour le visage très concentré, qui sent très bon, et laisse la peau lisse, je vous en ai déjà parlé ici./ a face cleanser that is very concentrated, smells lovely and smoothes your skin, I've already reviewed this product here.


Il y avait aussi un échantillon d'un complément alimentaire que je n'essaierai pas car je n'ai pas une grande confiance dans ces produits là et il y avait aussi un petit cadeau, cette fois-ci c'était une lime à ongles.

They had included a sample of some kind of dietary supplement that I am unlikely to try as I don't really trust this kind of products and there was also a gift, this time it was a nail file.

Je vous ferai une revue de ces produits dans quelques temps, après les avoir suffisamment testés.

Quelques remèdes naturels contre le rhume / When a cold is coming...

Ca y est, voici venir la gorge qui gratte et les courbatures, vite il est encore temps de faire quelque chose :

You can feel it coming, you feel stiff and your throat is scratchy, let's do something about it and quick!

Avec des huiles essentielles :
- avec quelques gouttes d'huile essentielle de lavande vraie, massez le cou et la nuque.
- mélangez quelques gouttes de ravintsare avec une huile végétale et massez vous la plante des pieds (cela peut paraître étrange mais c'est efficace). L'huile essentielle de ravintsare est une huile douce qui peut être utilisée sur les enfants mais dans ce cas, une goutte suffit.

With essential oils :
- massage your neck and nape with lavender oil
- mix a few drops of ravintsara with a vegetable oil and massage the soles of your feet (I know it sounds strange but I promise you it works). The essential oil of ravintsara is gentle and can be used on children but in that case use only one drop.

Avec des tisanes à adoucir avec une cuillère de miel (excellent pour la gorge) :

- frissons d'hiver des 2 marmottes
- le cold season sampler de yogi tea mais dans le paquet, la tisane qui m'intéresse le plus est celle à l'echinacea, plante réputée pour son efficacité contre la grippe (et en plus, le goût n'est pas mauvais)

With herbal teas sweetened with honey (excellent for the throat) :

- frissons d'hiver from les 2 marmottes (might be hard to find outside France though)
- the cold season sample from Yogi Tea but in this sampler the most interesting tea for me is the one make with Echinacea (you can buy it separately and it's called Echinacea immune support). This plant shorten the duration of a cold or flu and can help avoid it altogether (and it does not taste bad).

Et enfin quelques pastilles pour la gorge naturelles, par exemple celles de Wedderspoon qui existent en trois parfums (citron, orange, sureau) qui sont au miel de manuka, réputé pour ses propriétés anti-bactériennes. J'ai celles à l'orange et elles sont bonnes même si je leur trouve un arrière-goût un peu étrange (mais rien de vraiment déplaisant).

And to finish, try some natural throat lozenges for example those from Wedderspoon. They come in three flavours (lemon, orange and elderberry). They contain Manuka honey which is known for its anti-bacterial properties. I have the orange-flavored ones and they are nice enough even if I find that they have a weird aftertaste (but nothing really unpleasant, I can't quite describe it).

Enfin, se couvrir chaudement, tout particulièrement les pieds et ne pas hésiter à faire une promenade au grand air.

To finish, snuggle up in some warm clothing, and make especially sure that your feet are warm and toasty. It's also a good idea to head outside for a walk in the crisp, cool air.

Marilou Bio : du bio à petit prix / organic beauty products with a low price tag

Aujourd'hui je voudrais vous parler de quelques produits Marilou Bio que j'ai essayés. Je les ai achetés soit sur la ferme des peupliers, soit sur mondebio. Ils ont la particularité d'être bio et vraiment pas chers.

Today I'm going to talk about some Marilou Bio products that I've tested over the last couple of years. I bought them either on la ferme des peupliers (they only sell in Europe) or on mondebio. Their products are organic and super cheap.




Le gommage visage purifiant (75 ml) est un gommage à l'argile (entre autres). Personnellement, j'ai la peau sensible et il 'gratte' un peu trop pour moi. Il en faut vraiment très peu pour exfolier tout le visage et il ne coûte qu'un peu plus de 4 euros.

The purifying face scrub (75 ml) is a clay-based scrub. Frankly, it's a little bit too rough for me who have a super sensitive skin. You only need a tiny amount to exfoliate the whole face and it only costs a little more than 4 euros.

La crème visage anti-rides (30 ml) : c'est ma préférée parmi les crèmes marilou bio (et je les ai toutes essayées!). Elle est bien hydratante mais pas grasse, je l'utilise souvent en crème de nuit et je me réveille en ayant bonne mine. Son prix est également autour des 4 euros. Vous ne serez pas déçus.

The anti-wrinkle cream (30 ml) : my favorite cream of the range (and I have tried them all!). It hydrates well but it's not greasy, I often use it as a nightcream and I wake up the next day with glowing skin. Its price is around the 4 euro mark. You won't regret buying it!

Tant que j'y suis je vais aussi vous parler de la crème de jour : je la trouve plus grasse que la crème anti-rides, ce qui est plutôt étrange. Pour moi elle est quelconque.

While I'm at it, I might as well talk about the day cream : I find it more greasy than the anti-wrinkle cream, which I find rather strange. For me it's just a 'whatever', OK cream.

La crème de nuit est un peu grasse à mon goût mais j'ai la peau à tendance grasse, donc à essayer si vous avez un autre type de peau.

The night cream is also a bit too greasy for me but I have rather oily skin, so if you have another skin type, it might suit you just right.

En ce qui concerne les soins du visage, j'ai aussi testé le masque purifiant : même prix plancher, une odeur délicieuse d'agrumes et une efficacité au rendez-vous, je vous le conseille chaudement et même si c'est un masque à l'argile, il est parfait pour les peaux sensibles, je trouve qu'il apaise parfaitement la peau et lui apporte beaucoup de luminosité. C'est un EXCELLENT produit.     I've also tested their purifying mask: it has the same rock-bottom kind of price, it smells lovely (citrusy) and it's very efficient. If you can get you hands on this product, don't hesitate, try it. Even though it's a clay mask it's perfect for sensitive skins like mine. It calms it down and makes it glow. It's an EXCELLENT product.

Le shampooing doux est certainement le produit de la gamme que j'aime le moins. Il mousse très peu et j'avoue que je n'aime beaucoup ça, j'en utilise donc beaucoup à chaque fois pour un résultat moyen, mes cheveux regraissent vite. D'ailleurs en ce moment je ne l'utilise plus du tout, c'est mon fils qui s'en sert après la piscine!

The gentle shampoo is certainly the product that most disappointed me. It does not foam much (and I don't like that) so I use a lot of product each time I wash my hair and the result is not the greatest as my hair seems to look greasy only one day after washing. At the moment, I'm not even using it anymore, I've given it to my son who uses it when he goes to the swimming-pool!

Je ne sais pas pour vous mais moi je trouve que siroter une tasse de tisane à la fin d'une longue journée a quelque chose de réconfortant. Et si en plus cela peut m'aider à bien dormir, et bien c'est la cerise sur le gâteau.

Je vous présente donc Ceslestial Seasoning Sleepytime. J'adore le packaging retro mais le produit lui-même n'est pas mal non plus.

Voici la liste des ingrédients :

Chamomille, menthe verte, citronelle, fleurs de tilleul, feuilles de mûrier, fleurs d'oranger, baies d'aubépine et boutons de rose.

C'est tout naturel, mais pas bio.

Au goût on sent vraiment la menthe, c'est très rafraîchissant mais on sent également que c'est un mélange et à mon sens il est très réussi (ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas). Même mon fils qui est difficile question tisanes aime beaucoup celle-là.

Personnellement je la trouve très relaxante et en effet j'ai constaté que je m'endormais plus rapidement après en avoir consommé une tasse. Pour autant, cela ne résoudra pas vos problèmes d'insomnie! Prenons la donc pour ce qu'elle est, une très bonne tisane et profitons en! I don't know about you but to me there is something comforting in sipping a cup of herbal tea at the end of a long day. And if it can put me to sleep, so much the better.

Let me introduce you to Celestial Seasoning Sleepytime. I love the retro packaging but I have also fallen in love with the product itself.

Here is a list of the ingredients

Chamomile, spearmint, West Indian lemongrass, tilia flowers, blackberry leaves, orange blossoms, hawthorn berries and rosebuds.

It's all natural but not organic.

It tastes minty and as such it is very refreshing but you can also totally taste other plants and in my opinion, the mix of the ingredients is a success. It tastes really nice and even my son who is really picky likes it a lot.

I personally find it relaxing and I have found that I went to sleep more easily indeed after drinking a cup of this but I honestly don't think it's going to solve any serious insomnia issue. Aujourd'hui je vais vous parler de ma nouvelle crème contour des yeux, la Reviva Labs Eye Complex Firming Cream Je ne donne mon avis sur un produit qu'après l'avoir utilisé depuis plusieurs semaines et je peux donc vous dire que c'est une bonne crème. Elle ne coûte pas cher, elle hydrate très bien sans laisser de film gras (pas de problème de maquillage qui coule). Elle lisse les rides et ridules ; bon maintenant il ne faut pas en attendre des miracles non plus.

Elle est très agréable à l'application, la texture glisse sur la peau et elle n'a quasiment pas d'odeur. Comme pour toutes les crèmes de ce type le contenu est petit mais il en faut vraiment très peu donc ce n'est pas un obstacle à l'achat. Je n'ai pas de cernes très marqués donc je ne peux pas faire de commentaire à ce sujet.

Today, I'm going to talk to you about my new eye contour cream, the Reviva Labs Eye Complex Firming Cream. I only make a review after I have used a product for a few weeks and I can tell you that this is a good product. It's inexpensive, hydrates well without leaving an oily residue (makeup does not slide during the day). It smoothes fine and not so fine (!) wrinkles but don't expect any miracle.

It's very pleasant to apply, the texture glides on without dragging your skin and it's almost odorless. As with any eye contour cream, the pot is small but as you only need a tiny amount it will last you a long time. I don't have any dark circles so I can't comment on that.

Mychelle : kit pour peaux grasses ou à problèmes / Mychelle kit for oily or problem skin

J'avais lu des avis très positifs sur la marque Mychelle et j'ai eu envie de me faire ma propre opinion (et d'essayer de nouveaux produits bien sûr!). C'est une marque complètement naturelle, inutile de vérifier les compositions, il n'utilisent pas d'ingrédients suspects.

I had read very positive reviews concerning Mychelle products so I thought I would order a kit and form my own opinion. The brand is completely natural, no need to check the ingredient list, they do not use any suspect chemical.

 

J'ai donc commandé un kit qui contient 11 produits en doses d'essai. Mychelle en fait plusieurs, pour peaux sensibles, sèches, anti-âge, toutes peaux / peaux mixtes et donc pour peaux grasses ou à problèmes. Et là, je pense avoir mal choisi le mien. En effet j'ai la peau plutôt grasse mais sensible et pas du tout à problème. Je recherchais des produits pour matifier ma peau en journée sans la dessécher.
En ce qui me concerne il y a du bien et du moins bien dans ce kit.

I ordered a kit comprising 11 products in trial / travel sizes. Mychelle makes several of these, for sensitive skin, dry skin, anti-aging, all skin types / combination skin, and for oily / problem skin. This is the one I chose which was probably not the smartest choice since my skin is on the oily side but I don't get pimples and it's also sensitive. I was on the lookout for products to matify my face during the day without stripping it.
In my opnion, there are some good things but also some downsides about this kit.

Le plus : Les produits individuels sont chers et c'est donc bien de pouvoir les tester avant de les acheter.

Le moins : Ceci dit, le kit n'est pas donné non plus (20 dollars sur iherb.com) et les doses sont parfois très petites, si bien qu'on n'en a que pour une ou deux utilisations pour certains produits (voir photos), je ne trouve pas qu'on puisse vraiment se faire un avis comme cela (quoi que, quand ça ne convient pas, une utilisation est bien suffisante!).

 

 

On the positive side :

The individual products are expensive so it's good to be able to test them before splurging.

On the negative side : This being said, the kit is not cheap either (20 dollars on iherb.com) and the quantities are sometimes really small so that you only get one or two uses out of some samples (see pictures), which is not enough to know if you really like the product or not (unless you hate the product, and in that case one use is plenty!).

Je commence par les deux que je n'ai pas aimé.

• Le Cranberry mud mask : franchement, si on en met une bonne couche (ce que j'aime faire avec les masques à l'argile), il n'y en a que pour une fois. Bon, ben c'est pas pour moi, je pense que c'est à réserver aux peaux à problème et non sensibles. C'est un masque à l'argile qui sèche et tire vraiment sur la peau, j'ai trouvé ça très désagréable. Je ne sais pas exactement à quel composant ma peau a réagi mais elle était rouge après le masque alors que normalement les masques à l'argile l'apaisent et le lendemain elle était encore très sensible. Je n'ai pas vu d'effet positif sur ma peau, c'est définitivement un produit qui ne me convient pas.

I'll start with those I did not like :

• The Cranberry mud mask : If you apply a thick coat (which I like to do with mud masks), you only get one use out of the sample. Love the name but this is NOT for sensitive skins : my face was red and raw after using it and it dries hard quickly which I find unpleasant. I don't know to which ingredient my skin reacted but this is not for me (it contains alcohol, which may be the culprit, I'm not sure).

• Le deuxième c'est le Perfect C serum : sérum donc à la vitamine C. J'en attendais beaucoup, mais un peu comme le masque, c'est à fuir pour les peaux sensibles. Même en ne l'appliquant qu'un soir sur deux j'ai du arrêter après deux utilisations. Ma peau était plus lisse c'est sûr mais vraiment irritée. Dommage.

• The second one is the Perfect C Serum : it's a vitamin C serum. I so wanted to love this, get a lovely glow, refined skin... but a bit like the mask, this is not for sensitive skins. I tried applying it only once every other night but I had to stop after two uses. My skin was smoother for sure but really irritated. What a pity!

Allez, trois produits que j'ai trouvé super :

And now three products that I loved

• Le fruit enzyme cleanser : il est parfait pour moi, il nettoie bien la peau sans l'agresser (je n'ai plus de problème de tiraillements après le nettoyage depuis que je l'utilise), je le laisse poser une minute quand j'ai le temps (c'est préconisé) et j'ai effectivement l'impression qu'il contribue à lisser ma peau. Il est très concentré, une goutte suffit et je l'ai tellement aimé que je l'ai commandé en full size, malgré son prix pas donné (environ 13 dollars pour 130 ml).

• The fruit enzyme cleanser : it's perfect. It cleanses well without stripping (I don't get the tight feeling I used to experience after washing since I started using it). I let it sit for a minute when I can as recommended and I do find that it helps smooth my skin. It's highly concentrated, a drop is enough and I loved it so much that I ordered it in full size even though it's expensive (around 13 dollars for 4.4 fl oz) (and even though I'm a bit of a cheapskate!).

• Le Fruit Enzyime Mist : c'est le seul produit du kit qui ait une taille généreuse, on peut vraiment le tester pendant plusieurs semaines. Deux m'ont suffit à être conquise, il sent très bon, apaise, hydrate la peau et la lisse. Personnellement je ne l'utilise que le soir par peur d'avoir la peau trop grasse en journée mais c'est vraiment un excellent produit. Là encore, malgré son prix élevé c'est un produit que je pourrais envisager acheter en taille normale.

• The Fruit Enzyme Mist : it is the only product in the kit which comes in a generous size, you can test it for weeks. Two were enough to convince me. It smells lovely (it's a citrusy smell), calms your skin, hydrates and its also smoothes your skin. I personally only use it at night as I do not want my skin to get greasy during the day but it really is an excellent product. Once again, even it it is on the pricey side, I might consider buying it.

• La pumpkin renew cream : c'est une crème nourrissante mais légère, très bien pour les peaux mixtes ou grasses en hiver. Attention, elle n'est pas vraiment matifiante, ce n'est pas encore la crème de rêve pour moi mais elle pénètre immédiatement, ne laisse pas de film gras sur la peau et hydrate bien. Par contre, elle n'est pas suffisament riche pour le soir à mon goût. En taille normale elle coute à peu près 20 dollars sur iherb.

• The Pumpkin Renew Cream : it's a light but nourishing cream, perfect for combition or oily skin in the winter. It's not a matifying cream so I have not found my dream cream yet but it doesn't leave my skin greasy and hydrates well. I wouldn't recommend it for nightime as it's still very light. It costs around 20 dollars on iherb in full size.

Globalement je ne regrette pas mon achat, et je pense même commander un autre kit (peaux sensibles ou anti-âge) pour tester d'autres produits.

Overall I'm pretty happy with my purchase and thinking of buying another kit, probably for sensitive skins or the anti-aging kit to test other products from this brand.

Then their service is great. They ship quickly, everything is carefully wrapped and I have never had to pay custom taxes (although I can't guarantee it will never happen).

They have an incredible choice of products, more so than on iherb, especially if you are interested in buying vitamins, dietary supplements or food.

The main inconvenient unless you live in the US is the shipping costs that now amount to 9.99 dollars (they didn't want to say 10 dollars did they??) for a maximum weight of 3.4lb (1.54kg) for France. But considering that you can almost always get a reduction on the products you want they are very reasonable.

Des cheveux VO-LU-MI-NEUX / VO-LU-MI-NOUS hair!

Les cheveux plats, y'en a marre! C'est en tous les cas ce que je me suis dis il y a quelque mois en me regardant dans la glace. Le produit du milieu, c'est le Natural Missst de Aubrey fixation forte, je vous en ai déjà parlé, donc rendez-vous là pour une revue complète. Mais il sent super bon et tient très bien les cheveux toute la journée sans effet mouillé ou trop cartonné je trouve.

The product in the middle is the Natural Missst Hairspray from Aubrey in strong hold. I've already reviewed it in detail here. But it smells great, holds hair all day and doesn't make it look wet or too stiff.

Celui de gauche est très étonnant. Je l'ai commandé sur Vitacost et c'est un produit de la marque Not your mother's (pas celui de ta mère) qui n'est pas une marque naturelle mais les ingrédient de cette 'girl powder' (j'adore le nom, jeu de mot avec 'girl power'!) sont propres. The one on the left is surprising. I ordered it on vitacost, it's called Girl Powder (love the pun!) and it's from the brand Not your Mother's (not a natural brand but the ingredients of this particular product are clean, here is a pic so you can see for yourself).

 

Je ne savais même pas que ce truc là existait, c'est presque magique : on en saupoudre un peu à la racine des cheveux, on masse un peu (promis, ça ne fait pas blanc, on ne voit rien du tout) et le volume qu'on obtient est juste dingue (et en plus ça tient longtemps). Si vous avez les cheveux plats, vous allez ADORER. En plus c'était pas cher 5,99 dollars.

I had no idea such a product existed, it's almost magical : you sprinkle it onto your roots, fluff your hair with your fingers and the volume you get is AMAZING. It doesn't leave any white residue, it's absolutely invisible. If you have flat hair, you're gonna LOVE this. Bonus point : it's cheap : 5.99 dollars.

Le produit de droite c'est un shampooing volumateur : c'est le Jason 'Thin to thick extra volume shampoo' que j'ai lui acheté sur iherb.com. La première fois je ne l'ai pas aimé car je suis très sensible aux odeurs et celui là ben il ne sent pas très très bon (ce n'est pas horrible non plus). Mais dès que j'ai vu le résultat et bien je me suis dis que pour une fois j'allais supporter l'odeur. Les cheveux sont super légers, ils ont beaucoup de volume. C'est parfait pour les cheveux plats, fins, mais aussi pour les cheveux gras car il ne graisse pas du tout les cheveux. J'en suis très contente. Il en faut peu à chaque usage et heureusement car il est un peu cher : 8,06 dollars pour 237 ml mais il les vaut bien!

The product on the right is a volumizing shampoo : it's the Jason 'Thin to thick extra volume shampoo' that I bought on iherb.com. I didn't like it the first time around as the smell is not the best (it's not awful either). But as soon as I saw the result I was hooked : your hair feels very light and it is a lot more voluminous. It's perfect for flat or thin hair but also for greasy hair because cleanses really well. I'm very happy with it. It's concentrated which is a good thing considering that it's not the least expensive shampoo : 8.06 for 8fl oz. but it's well worth it!

Comment savoir si un ingrédient est dangereux pour la santé ou non?

Voilà comment vous pouvez faire : rendez vous sur le site skindeep et copiez le nom de l'ingrédient que vous recherchez. Vous aurez de nombreuses informations sur sa toxicité et tout est détaillé, y compris si les études sont fiables et poussées (fair) ou encore si l'on manque de données sur le produit en question (limited).

On peut également chercher directement avec le nom du produit et la marque.

Personnellement je m'en sers beaucoup car n'étant pas chimiste de formation j'en ai besoin pour me faire une idée sur les cosmétiques que je choisis d'utiliser.

Attention cependant, il y a des limites à ce site. Tout d'abord tous les composés n'y figurent pas et la cosmétique évolue si vite que je pense que ce sera toujours le cas. De plus, comme je l'ai mentionné auparavant les études ne sont pas forcément fiables.

Enfin, des ingrédients fréquemment trouvés dans les cosmétiques bio et présents dans les huiles essentielles (par exemple le geraniol ou le linalool) sont répertoriés comme toxiques, donc à mon avis il ne faut pas s'arrêter au numéro indiqué (de 0 complément sûr (ou pas d'étude disponible) à 10 je crois (très toxique, passez votre chemin!)).

Malgré cela c'est un bon outil et je vous encorage à aller sur leur site et à prendre vous même vos décisions en connaissance de cause.

Here is something you can do to get a fair idea of the safety level of a product : go to skindeep and copy the name of the ingredient you're looking for. You will get a lot of information about the toxicity of the chemical and it's very detailled, it even states whether there is enough data about the substance in question.

You can also search by brand or product name.

I personally use it a lot. I'm not a chemist and I need this site to decide if a cosmetic is safe for me to use.

That being said, there are limits to this site. First of all, not all chemicals are listed and this sector evolves so quickly that I suspect it will always be so. Besides, there is not enough research done on some of the chemicals.

Moreover, some of the ingredients listed as toxic such as geraniol or linalool are very frequently present in organic cosmetics because they are found in some essential oils, so in my opinion, the number that indicates whether the product is safe or not (from 0 safe to 10 very toxic) does not tell the whole story.

Still it is a great tool to  make educated decisions concerning cosmetics and I encourage everyone to check out their site.

Il y a déjà quelques temps, j'ai commencé à commander sur le site iherb.com. C'est un site américain qui vend des produits de beauté (souvent naturels) mais aussi du thé, des tisanes, des vitamines... Alors je sais, ce n'est pas très écologique de faire venir des produits de l'autre bout du monde. Mais ce qui fait que j'y reviens toujours, c'est d'une part le prix, et d'autre part le choix énorme que propose le site.

Attention à toujours bien lire les étiquettes car les produits qu'ils vendent ne sont pas tous naturels, loin s'en faut. Si c'est l'une de vos inquiétudes, il vous faudra lire la liste des ingrédients!

Mais on y trouve de très bons produits pour un prix inférieur à ceux pratiqués en Europe.

Si vous ne parlez pas anglais, pas de panique, vous pouvez toujours traduire la page. Pour ce faire, rendez-vous sur translate.google.fr et taper le nom du lien (ici, iherb.com). Et voilà, traduction (approximative certes) immédiate.

Après, à vous de naviguer dans ce site tentaculaire et pas toujours très bien organisé!

Attention à ne rien commander qui soit interdit dans votre pays (mais je crois que leur site vous le signale).

Les frais de port sont de 6 dollars (pour la France) si vous commandez pour moins de 40 dollars et de 4 dollars si vous commandez pour plus. Le poids maximum est de 4lb, soit 1,81kg. Je sais pas vous, mais moi je ne trouve pas cela cher du tout.

A while ago I started ordering from iherb.com. It's an American site specializing in 'natural products'. They sell beauty products, teas, vitamins... I know, I know having products shipped to me from the other half of the world is not very ecological. Yet, I always go back to this site for two reasons: their price and their choice.

 

Be careful as not all the products are natural (far from it!). If that's a concern for you, you will need to check the list of ingredients before buying (they always provide it).

 

But they do have a wide selection of very goods products for a fraction of the European price.

 

Do not order anything that is not allowed in your country (I think the site is supposed to let you know).

 

For France, shipping costs are 6 dollars if you order for less than 40 dollars and 4 dollars over 40 dollars. The maximum weight for one parcel is 4lb, which is 1.81kg. It is very reasonable.

 

In my experience, it takes between 10 to 14 days for an order to arrive to France.

 

In theory, custom taxes can be applied but apparently, it is rarely so for France as I have never had to pay any. Still, it's best to know it can happen.

It's not always easy to find a good natural lipstick or lipbalm. Personnally, I have had trouble finding products that suited me, at a reasonable price. That was until I discovered Silk Naturals, a small independent American firm, founded and managed by a girl (yeah!), Karen. I buy almost all of my makeup from her site but what I prefer are her lip products.

Here is what I've been using lately:
Les sticks hydratants :

J'en ai deux, tous deux très hydratants :
- candy cane, parfumé à la menthe, très rafraîchissant et
- spicy citrus, au citron, gingembre et cardamome

Ils sont parfaits et coûtent 3,75 dollars pièce

Two lipbalms :

- candy cane, flavored with peppermint and
- spicy citrus with lemon, ginger and cardamom

They are both very hydrating and apply very smoothly without dragging your skin.
They cost 3.75 dollars apiece.

Les couleurs :

Il existe plusieurs sortes de rouges, plus ou moins brillants, plus ou moins couvrants... je vous laisse aller sur le site et les découvrir, on peut même sélectionner une gamme de couleur, si l'on veut des couleurs froides / chaudes / neutres... c'est très pratique. Je ne sais pas combien il y a de références en tout mais vraiment il y en a pour tout le monde.

Mais le meilleur, c'est vraiment l'hydratation que procurent ses produits. Vous n'aurez plus jamais besoin d'utiliser un stick sous un rouge ou même dans la journée et vous aurez également bien du mal je pense à racheter du MAC.

En ce moment j'utilise :

- bobbi: c'est un vegan lip gloss et en effet il est bien brillant mais pas collant, d'ailleurs aucun des produits pour lèvres de cette marque ne l'est. C'est un vieux rose parfait pour tous les jours. Il est transparent mais la couleur est tout de même bien visible sur les lèvres. 4,75 dollars

- bitten : c'est un kisser slicker lipgloss. C'est un rouge clair, plus ou moins transparent selon le nombre de couches. 4,50 dollars

- hubbub : liquid lipgloss. C'est un pêche. C'est la texture que j'aime le moins car elle est un peu moins hydratante que les formules en stick je trouve. Mais il est quand même très joli. 4,74 dollars

- blaze : amplifying lip glaze. C'est un rouge à paillettes dorées (très subtiles hein, pas d'effet sapin de Noël et c'est tout à fait portable au travail). Ce type de rouges est censé repulper les lèvres. Il y a un effet glaçon très appréciable car il contient du menthol mais bon, je n'ai rien constaté de flagrant sur ma bouche. 4,50 dollars

- bombshell : organic lipstick. C'est un rouge sombre façon vamp, parfait pour le soir mais appliqué au doigt, on peut aussi obtenir une couleur plus légère pour la journée. C'est un vrai rouge très couvrant. 5,75 dollars

- peachy keen : kisser slicker lipgloss. Mon favori. C'est un pêche tirant vers le rouge qui me donne bonne mine. J'ai bientôt fini le mien et j'en rachèterai un dès que ce sera fait. 4,50 dollars

Les frais de port sont très raisonnables et le service rapide, n'hésitez pas à faire un tour sur le site de Silk Naturals. Karen propose aussi des fards à paupière (elle a un nombre incroyable de nuances), des produits de soin...

The lipcolors

Karen has a ton of products, more or less pigmented, more or less glossy... and when you go on her site, you can select cold / warm / neutral colors or only reds / pinks.... it's very practical. There is something for everyone.

But the best is not the incredible color selection, it's the fact that these babies are highly hydrating. You will never need to use lipbalm during the day when you wear them and it's unlikely that you will go back to buying MAC lipsticks. They are that good.

At the moment, I'm using

- bobbi: it's a vegan lip gloss which is indeed very glossy but not sticky at all (none of their lip products are!). It's a dusty rose perfect for everyday, more or less sheer depending on how many layers you apply. 4,75 dollars

- bitten : it's a kisser slicker lipgloss. It's a light red that can be built up. 4.50 dollars

- hubbub : liquid lipgloss. It's a peach. The texture is ok but it's not my favorite as I don't find it as moisturizing as the stick lipcolors. Still very pretty. 4.74 dollars.

- blaze : amplifying lip glaze. It's a red with gold glitter (but very subtle, you're not going to glow in the dark , it's hardly noticeable in person and wearable even for a work day). This is supposed to plump up your lips. As it is mentholated it leaves your lips feeling fresh, which I really like but I cannot say that I have seen 'amplifying' results on my lips. 4.50 dollars.

- bombshell : organic lipstick. It's a dark vampy red, perfect for a night out but also perfect for daytime wear when applied with your finger. Applied straight from the tube, it's very opaque. 5.75 dolars.

- peachy keen : kisser slicker lipgloss. My favorite. Ever. It's a reddish peach color that gives me a glow. I swear I look much better from the moment I put this on. I'm almost done with this tube and will repurchase the second I run out. 4.5 dollars.
